🔐 Vehicle Security Reminder – Motorcycle and Car Thefts

We’re reminding residents to take extra care if you own a vehicle, car or motorbike. There appears to be a slight increase in vehicle related crime in the area. This is consisting of motorbikes being stolen by persons often on another motorbike with 2 riders or more, typically not wearing helmets. They are using angle grinders to cut the locks and and they break the steering locks by twisting the front handle bars. Cars are also being stolen by thieves using relay devices for keyless cars which trick the car into thinking the key is near it.

How to protect your vehicle:

Keep your key fobs in a Faraday bag/pouch to block the signal. These can also be obtained from online retails shops.

Keep motorbikes locked - use at least 2 physical deterrents such as a disc lock and chain. Use a device that has an alarm.

Cover the motorcycle up.

Park motorcycles in well lit areas and check for CCTV.

Consider getting more than 1 tracker for the motorbike & car.

Store keys well away from doors and windows.

Consider additional security such as steering locks, driveway bollards or home CCTV/ Ring doorbell cameras.

Always check your vehicle is locked, even when using automatic locking systems.

Taking a few simple precautions can make a big difference in preventing this type of crime.
